Growth Rate: Medium to Fast

Mature Height/Spread: Bush to small tree.

Flowering/Pollination: Self-fertile, pollinated by insects

Tolerance: No salt tolerance, mildly drought tolerant.

Soil/Nutrition: Prefers a deep, rich sandy soil with moderate drainage.

Light: Full sun for best fruiting.

Wind: A sturdy tree.

Temperature: Near tropical, but will withstand brief freezes with defoliation.

Diseases Prone: Spider mites, mealybugs.

Bearing Age: 3-4 years from seed.

Fruit: Fruit is about the size of a fig, oblong, orange. When under- ripe it's flesh is crunchy, like a carrot. When fully ripe, it is rich and tick, like peanut butter. It has a flavor much like a sweet potato.

History/Origin:

Species Observations: Species' leaves turn lighter when there is inadequate PH in the soil. It will still grow normally, but leaves will be lighter. The darker the leaves, the happier the tree.
